An 8-year-old patient has a history of wheezing and coughing after consuming foods containing sulfites. The child is now being prescribed a
liquid medication (oral suspension) for 10 days.
Student Tasks:
- Select sulfites as an allergen in the system.
- Scan the prescribed liquid medication.
- Look for sulfites or related terms in the inactive ingredient list.
- Discuss how you would counsel the caregiver and what alternative might be needed if sulfites are present.
